Sebold and Crim Shoot Chestnut Hill College To League-Win Over Lightning

Wilmington, Del. - (2/18/2020) – Earning a valuable victory in their quest for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament appearance, Chestnut Hill College defeated South Division rival Goldey-Beacom College by a 64-54 in this evening's league contest. Junior guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) and sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) scored 19 points apiece; the former hit three (3-of-4, .750) from beyond the arc, while the latter hit six (6-of-10, .600) as the pair accounted for all nine (9-of-18, .500) for the Griffins' long range baskets and all three (3-of-4, .750) of their free throws.

Goldey-Beacom College (8-16, 8-8) led off the opening tip, pacing Chestnut Hill College (11-14, 10-6) to an initial 9-9 (4:08) stalemate. Crim hit the three pointer that tied the contest and her next two threes (3:22, 2:47) afterwards to give the Griffins a 15-11 advantage with 2:47 left in the first quarter. The Lightning evened the spread by the first break, 17-17 (0:17), but quickly fell behind in the second quarter as Sebold took over, hitting a pair of threes (8:06, 4:49) and a pair of free throws in a 16-9 Scarlet and Gold streak that secured a 33-26 halftime advantage.

Chestnut Hill College quickly advanced their position in the second half, expanding their lead to double-digits, 39-28, on a layup from sophomore center Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) with 7:49 remaining in the third quarter. The Griffin lead grew to as many as 24 points, 52-28 (3:56), before the end of the frame, but never more as the Lightning found resolve with a 19-8 reprisal in the fourth quarter.

Three Lightning finished in double figures; sophomore guard Sarah Round (Northampton, England) and sophomore forward Alexis Harrison (Millville, N.J.) shared the lead with 11 points apiece. Round also provided three rebounds and five assists, while Harrison added seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal. Sophomore guard Lexi Weikert (Harrisburg, Pa.) was the third, adding five rebounds, an assist, and a block to her 10 points.
