Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) with 1:43 (59-59) left to play completed Chestnut Hill College's rally from a 33-20 halftime deficit in tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. Unfortunately, Holy Family University scored a three-point basket of their ensuing possession (62-59, 1:18) to get the leg up in an eventual 64-61 Tiger final. Sebold finished with a team-high 16 points in a three headed effort that also included double-digit performance from sophomore guard
Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) (15 points) and sophomore center
Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) (14).
Holy Family University (16-9, 14-4) led Chestnut Hill College (11-16, 10-8) by double-digit in each of the first three quarters of the league affair. In the first quarter, the Tigers sprinted out to a 15-5 (2:31) margin before leading 20-9 (0:27) at the initial break and 33-20 (0:46) at halftime. The Scarlet and Gold tide came in the third quarter, where a heavy dose of Miller quickly cut the deficit to seven points, 38-31 (5:15), before an exchange of runs that finished with a three-point basket from sophomore guard
Rachael Millan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) left the deficit at six points, 43-37, with 2:21 remaining. Holy Family University managed to recover for a 50-39 (0:07) third-quarter spread, but Chestnut Hill College continued their rally in the fourth frame, taking advantage of a series of Tiger turnovers to cut the margin to just two points, 50-48, with 6:28 left in the game. Sebold's jumper eventually tied the game at 59-59 with 1:43 to go. After that, Holy Family University made the most of a timeout, drawing up a three-point basket (62-59, 1:18) that gave them the edge necessary to escape the Griffins in a 64-61 end.
Senior forward Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J.) led all scorers with 20 points, she also contributed seven rebounds and two assists to the Tiger cause. Graduate guard Mia Ehling (Linden, N.J.) offered 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, while freshman guard Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa.) provided seven points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Leading the three Griffins in double figures, Sebold added three rebounds and five assists to her 16-point performance. Crim recorded a pair of rebounds and an assist in excess of her 15 points, while Miller totaled seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal in addition to her 14 points.
Chestnut Hill College concludes their 2019-2020 regular season schedule on Saturday, February 29, when they welcome the #16 University of the Sciences (USciences) to campus for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
