Box Score WASHINGTON, N.J. (3/5/2020) -- Chestnut Hill College men's tennis returned to play following a month-long layoff. The Griffins (2-2) got off to a rough start to the upcoming stretch of matches with a 6-1 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas College (2-2).
The Scarlet and Gold earned a point in third-flight singles, as senior Antoine Gautier (Bordeaux, France) took down Spartan junior Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.
Gautier also partnered with junior Kiki Dagneaux (Saint-Gervasy, France) for a 6-4 win at second flight doubles, but following the 6-4 loss of sophomore Tom Pitchley (London, England) and senior Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) in the first flight set and a walkover in the third flight, the Griffins dropped the doubles point.
Pitchley battled sophomore Odysseas Papaioannou (Thessaloniki, Greece) to a three-set match in first flight singles, but fell in a final set tiebreaker for a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 loss. Dagneaux, Jorsal, and sophomore Kai Adler (Leer, Germany) were downed in straight sets in the other matches, while the Griffins fell in a walkover at the sixth flight to cap off a 6-1 loss.
Chestnut Hill College is back in action at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6 in Flushing, New York against Queens College.
