Anthony Broderick produced a record-breaking touchdown run in the first quarter as the Chestnut Hill College Sprint Football team fell to the University of Pennsylvania 56-7 Friday night at A.A. Garthwaite Stadium in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins fall to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in College Sprint Football League games. Penn improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Broderick started CHC's fifth drive if the game by taking a handoff from Griffin quarterback
Carmen Deo late in the first quarter and raced down the field for a 79-yard touchdown with 1:14 left in the quarter, setting a school record for the longest run from scrimmage in a game. Penn added two touchdowns apiece in the second and third quarters and one fourth quarter touchdown to finish the night with eight scores for 56 points.
Chestnut Hill generated 237 yards of total offense with Broderick leading the way with 92 yards rushing. Â Deo three eight completions for 55 yards while
C.J. Small connected on three of four passes for 39 yards.
On the defensive end,
Colby Goldsmith led the Griffins with nine tackles while
Jacob Orrick had eight, including two sacks.Â
Meech Laylor added an interception.
 Quaker QB Andrew Paolini three for 187 yards including a 73-yard catch and run to Ben Klaus, who finished the game with six receptions and two touchdown catches. Laquan
McKever had 128 yards on the ground rushing with two touchdowns.
Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Friday, October 29, 2021 for their final home game of the season, facing Cornell University at A.A. Garthwaite stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
