Griffins Fall to 1-2 With Week Three Loss to Mansfield University

Conshohocken, Pa. - (10/1/2021) - Chestnut Hill College (1-2) welcomed Mansfield University (2-1) to A.A. Garthwaite Stadium for an Alumni Appreciation Game and Week Three of the Collegiate Sprint Football Season. A defensive first quarter kept the contest scoreless until the middle of the second period. There, the Mountaineers' kicker, freshman Logan Shull (Manheim, Pa.) made up for an early missed field goal with a 30-yard boot through the uprights at 8:16, (3-0). They followed the field goal with an eight-play drive that ended in a four-yard run by freshman running back Bryan Bogaczyk (Mansfield, Pa.), 10-0 (3:11). The momentum continued to be in the visitors favor during the second half of competition as the Mountaineers outscored the Griffins 21-14; 31-14.

Freshman running back Ira Baine (Snow Hill, Md.) marched the Scarlet and Gold down the field for their first score as he carried the ball three times for 37 yards, before freshman quarterback Connor Rohrbach (Barto, Pa.) finished of the drive with a pair of keepers (10-7, 11:29, 3QTR). Rohrbach also rushed for the second Griffins touchdown, completing a 75-yard drive with a three-yard rush (24:14, 4:19, 4QTR).

Rohrbach completed 11-of-26 passes for 169 yards. He threw four interceptions and was sacked two times. Baine finished with 77 yards rushing on nine carries (8.6 yards/carry), leading a Scarlet and Gold ground game that totaled 177 yards in all. Freshman wide receiver Branden Moye (Woodbury, N.J.) was electric in the passing game and on special teams as he totaled 71 yards on six receptions and 103 yards on four kickoff returns. Junior linebacker Luke Attanasi (Hammonton, N.J.) captained the Chestnut Hill College defense with 10 tackles (9 solo, 1 assisted). He got plenty of help from junior defensive back Ryan Jakeman (Cheltenham, Pa.) (7 solo, 1 assisted) and sophomore defensive end Larry Fonville III (Bethesda, Md.) (6 solo, 2 assisted), who each recorded a sack and eight tackles.

Chestnut Hill College travels to CSFL South Division rival, Caldwell University for Week Four. Kickoff is schedule for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9.
