Rams Snap Griffins Four-Match Win Streak

The Chestnut Hill women's Volleyball team had their four match winning streak snapped as local rival Jefferson University defeated the Griffins 3-0 (23-25, 23-25 9-25) Tuesday night at Sorgenti Arena in Philadelphia.

The Griffins fall to 6-12 overall and 3-8 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games.  Jefferson improves to 18-4 overall and 9-4 in league play.

Henielys Ramos led the Griffins with 10 kills and 13 digs, recording her fifth double-double of the season.  Erika Dubosky and Leah Miller had seven kills apiece.  Miller finished the match with a .667 attack percentage (7 kills-1 error-9 attacks).  Mia Caporellie led the team with 29 assists.

On the defensive side, Dubosky joined Ramos in double figures for digs with ten on the evening.

Jefferson scored the first four points of the opening set only to have the Griffins battle back and tie the score at 9-9.  Five more ties followed as neither team was able to pull away from each until late in the set when Jefferson opened up a four point lead 23-19.  An Angela April kill was followed by a kill by the rams to make the score 24-20.  Ramos followed with two kills and an attack error by the Rams pulled the Griffins within one 24-23 before Jefferson closed out the set on the next rally, 25-23.

The Griffins jumped out to an early 6-3 lead on the strength of two kills from Miller along with kills from Mikayla Grimes and Dubosky.  Jefferson battled back to tie the score at 9-9.  Neither team pulled away from each other nor led by more than two points with the Griffins forging a 15-15 tie midway through the set.  Jefferson followed with a 6-1 run to lead 21-16.  Chestnut Hill continued to battle, embarking on a 4-1 run to close within two 22-20 which would be as close as they would get as the Rams hung on to win the set 25-23 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Jefferson jumped out to a big lead in the thirds set, and led wire-to-wire as they won the set 25-9 and the match 3-0.

The Chestnut Hill Women's Volleyball Team returns to action on Saturday, October 30, 2021 when they host Bloomfield College at Sorgenti arena.  Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
