Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team engaged in competition. The restart brought the Griffins to Ambler, Pennsylvania's Upper Dublin Sports Center, where they lost to St. Joseph's University by a 4-3 final. Junior
Gregory Joseph Kvint (Hungtingdon Valley, Pa.), and freshmen
Domagoj Dugandzic (Stuttgart, Germany), and
Joao Sousa (Pontevedra, Spain) scored consecutive Scarlet and Gold singles wins in the second (6-4, 7-6 (7-6)), fifth (6-3, 7-6 (6-4)), and fourth (2-6, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3)) flights, but the Chestnut Hill College rally would fall just shy of its mark as the Hawks concluded the match with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, win at number six singles.
St. Joseph's University (2-0) swept doubles play and extended their lead to 3-0 before Kvint ignited the Chestnut Hill College (0-1) rally with his 6-4, 7-6 (7-6) victory at number two singles. Kvint's Scarlet and Gold debut victory was followed by a couple more as Dugandzic and Sousa precipitated consecutive Griffin wins at number five singles (6-3, 7-6 (6-4)) and number four singles (2-6, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3)). Unfortunately, the Hawks finally completed their victory with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, win number six singles.
Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Saturday, March 13, when they host Loyola University (Md.) in a 12:00 p.m. dual match.
