Chestnut Hill College who hosted the University of the Sciences (USciences) in an afternoon match. The Devils took the advantage with the doubles point, 1-0, and broke away from a 2-2 stalemate with match-winning victories at number six (6-4, 6-4) and number four (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) singles. Freshman
Annika Wise, Sophomore
Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain), and freshman
Nele Haag (Tauberbischofsheim, Germany), and respectively recorded the Griffins singles points in the third (6-3, 6-1), first (6-2, 6-3), and second (7-5, 7-6 (7-4)) singles flights.
USciences (1-0, 1-0) secured the doubles point with consecutive wins in the first (6-1) and third (6-4) team flights, 1-0. Chestnut Hill College (0-3, 0-1) won the third flight soon after, with Wise and freshman
Lottie Allin (Darby, England) teaming for a 7-6 (7-5) number two doubles win.
In singles, Wise evened the score with her 6-3, 6-1, win at number three singles, 1-1. The Devils reciprocated with a 6-1, 6-2, win in the fifth individual flight only for Arguelles to reestablish the stalemate with her 6-2, 6-3, win at number one singles, 2-2. Unfortunately, the tie did not sever in the Griffins' favor as USciences scored match-winning points in the sixth (6-4, 6-4) and fourth (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) singles flights. Haag's second singles win (7-5, 7-6 (7-4)) concluded the match.
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC season on Saturday, March 20, when they visit Concordia College (NY) for a 12:00 p.m. match.
