Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (4/12/2021) – Breaking from an extended layoff, Chestnut Hill College welcomed Holy Family University to Victory Field #1 for tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The Tigers controlled the early action, establishing a 5-0 advantage before senior midfielder
Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) scored the first of her two goals on a free position shot (5-1, 20:52). Unfortunately, the Scarlet and Gold tally was not enough to slow Holy Family University in a 15-5 conclusion.
Fanfarillo got Chestnut Hill College (0-4, 0-2) on the scoreboard just after the 21-minute mark (20:52), 5-1. But a 24-7 first-half shot advantaged helped Holy Family University (1-3, 1-2) separate for a 9-1 halftime lead. The Tigers added a tenth goal to start the later frame, 10-1 (27:26). Fanfarillo answered with an unassisted score at 25:06, 10-2, only for Holy Family University to outscore the Griffins 5-1 over the next 13 minutes, 15-3 (11:59). Chestnut Hill College capped the contest with fleeting scores from sophomore midfielder
Danielle Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y.) (15-4, 4:12) and freshman midfielder
Molly Killion (Philadelphia, Pa.) (15-5, 0:49).
Junior midfielder Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J.) led Holy Family University with six points (5 goals, 1 assist), a ground ball, three draws, and a caused turnover. Four other Tigers recorded at least two goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlyn Musick (Bensalem, Pa.) earned the win (1-3) with five saves.
Vassallo and sophomore midfielder
Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa.) helped Fanfarillo lead Chestnut Hill College. Vassallo added two ground balls, three draws, and a caused turnover to her tally, while Schwartz complimented her second-half score (12-3, 21:06) with two ground balls, four draws, and a caused turnover. In goal, sophomore
Mel Amador (Cape May, N.J.) recorded 20 saves in the loss (0-4).
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Wednesday, April 14, when they visit Wilmington University for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
