Griffins Defeat Chargers at Magarity Tennis Club

Flourtown, Pa. - (4/15/2021) – Moved to Magarity Tennis Club of Flourtown, Pennsylvania, today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match served as another crucial league victory for Chestnut Hill College. The Griffins earned the doubles point with a deciding victory in the third flight (6-2). The Scarlet and Gold added to their lead over Dominican College with a default win at number one singles and captured a 6-1 victory with succeeding wins in the third (6-3, 6-1) and first (6-4, 6-2) singles flight.
 
Freshmen Lottie Allin (Darby, England) and Annika Wise opened the match with their 6-1 win at number two doubles. Dominican College (0-5, 0-5) evened the playing field with a 6-4 win in the first team flight, but Chestnut Hill College (4-5, 4-3) successfully captured the team point with sophomore Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) and junior Gianna Vassalluzzo (Newtown, Pa.) posting a 6-2 win in the third team flight, 1-0.
 
In singles, the Griffins automatically extended their lead to 2-0 with a default win in the second flight. Soon after Wise and Garcia Arguelles provided the necessary Scarlet and Gold wins to take the match. Wise won the number three singles 6-3, 6-1, and Garcia Arguelles took number one singles 6-4, 6-2; 4-0. With the match in hand, Allin and freshman Alani Naje Connor (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) scored comeback wins at number four (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) and number five (3-6, 6-1, 6-3) singles, 6-0. Dominican College avoided the shutout with a concluding 6-2, 6-4, win at number six singles, 6-1.
 
Chestnut Hill College concludes their 2020-2021 regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 20, when they visit Dominican College for a 3:00 p.m. CACC match.
