Dietz Drives in Two, Woltemate and Rockenbach Reel in CACC Win for Chestnut Hill College

North Wales, Pa. - (4/20/2021) – Chestnut Hill College emerged as the victor in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with Wilmington University as a three run fifth inning was enough coverage for junior Pat Woltemate (Philadelphia, Pa.) (W, 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K) and sophomore Dan Rockenbach (Holland, Pa.) (SV, 3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K) to retire the Wildcats in a 4-2 final. Junior first baseman Andrew Dietz (Warrington, Pa.) doubled in a pair of Griffins in the three-run fifth with a bases-loaded single through the right side. Senior second baseman Patrick Meenan (Oreland, Pa.) sacrificed home the other Chestnut Hill College run of the frame, while junior right fielder Sam Barletta (Royersford, Pa.) doubled in the first Scarlet and Gold run with two out in the third inning.

Wilmington University (9-4, 9-4) touched Woltemate for a run in the top of the first inning, but they did not light the scoreboard again until the seventh inning. But by that time, Chestnut Hill College (9-12, 6-8) already owned a 4-1 advantage. The fifth inning was truly the difference maker as the Griffins loaded the bases with a lead off single to third base from freshman shortstop Nate O'Donnell (Hatfield, Pa.), a double to center field from senior designated hitter Ameir Uzzell (Levittown, Pa.), and a Barletta walk. After a force at the plate, Dietz's single through the right side brought home two Scarlet and Gold runs, 3-1. After a change of Wildcat pitchers, a walk to sophomore left fielder Corbin Dunnuck (Mohnton, Pa.) and Meenan's sacrifice fly made it 4-1. Rockenbach relieved Woltemate in the top of the seventh inning. He limited Wilmington University to a single run after a pair of lead off walks, 4-2. But that was the only true trouble he saw in the three-inning save (2).

Chestnut Hill College returns to Hostelley Field on Thursday, April 22, for a 2:00 p.m. CACC doubleheader opposite Bloomfield College.
