New Haven, Conn. – (7/8/2021) – The first in a series of announcements from league commissioner Dan Mara, the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis All-Academic Team (.PDF) was officially released today, Thursday, July 8. Chestnut Hill College was represented by junior captain Kiki Dagneaux (Saint-Gervasy, France), who garnered the first conference academic accolade of his collegiate career.
The CACC recognized a total of 14 student-athletes on the academic squad, just one more than the 2020 roster. Conference champion, Concordia College (NY) offered a league-high five student-athletes. In order to be eligible for the CACC All-Academic Teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and must have achieved a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher through the preceding semester.
Dagneaux and doubles partner, fellow junior, Tom Pitchley (London, England) served as co-captains for Chestnut Hill College's 2020-2021 season. The duo garnered a #9 ranking in the final Intercollegiate Collegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region while leading the Griffins to a 7-5 overall record, a 5-3 league mark, and their eighth consecutive CACC Championship appearance – seventh overall, opposite the Clippers. The second-seeded Scarlet and Gold advanced to the league's title bout with a 4-1 victory over #3 Thomas Jefferson University (Jefferson) in the April-30 semifinal. Dagneaux finished the season as a member of the All-CACC Second Team after garnering a #19 standing in the ITA East Region Singles Rankings. He posted a 6-5 individual record that included a 4-3 record in the second flight.
Dagneaux is a three-time member of both the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Academic Honor Roll (Fall 2019, Spring 2020, Fall 2020) and Chestnut Hill College Dean's List (Fall 2019, Spring 2020, Fall 2020). He was a 2020 ITA Scholar Athlete and was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma; National College Athlete Honor Society earlier this year (April 9).
