Philadelphia, Pa. - (9/15/2021) - Chestnut Hill College got Sorgenti Arena going early as a 25-23 opening-set victory brought the Scarlet and Gold to their feet. Unfortunately, Georgian Court University got the better of the Griffins in the second set, 25-16, and used their momentum to end the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener in four sets; 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23).
The opening set was Chestnut Hill College's best by far as the Scarlet and Gold hit .414 (16K-3E-28TA) in the frame. The Griffins' 47 kills were split between five players. Senior middle hitter
Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) and freshman outside hitter
Erika Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa.) scored 10 apiece, the later added an assist and a team-high 16 digs. Meanwhile, senior right side
Lauren Lipinski (Gilbert, Ariz.), junior outside hitter
Mikayla Grimes (Reno, Nev.), and sophomore middle hitter
Angela April (Folsom, Pa.) each finished with nine kills. Sophomore setter
Mia Caporellie (Downingtown, Pa.) offered 40 assists, two aces, and 13 digs.
Chestnut Hill College returns to Sorgenti Arena on Tuesday, September 21, when they host Shippensburg University for a 7:00 p.m. match.
