The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team closed out their competition on a winning note at the Bud Whitman Memorial Invitational on Sunday with two wins, including the best-of-seven baker match in the final bracket, defeating Caldwell University 4-3.

The Griffins finished in seventh place overall, going 3-2 in Sunday's five matches to finish 4-6 for the weekend.

Chestnut Hill opened Sunday's competition with an 881-864 loss to Mount St. Mary's (Md.).  Maddie Gannon filled nine of ten frames while Jessica Hollabaugh and Eryn Moore filled eight of ten.

The Griffins came right back and defeated Caldwell in the second match of the day, 879-738 with Hope Widmer filling nine of ten frames and Gannon and Hollabaugh filling eight.

A loss to Molloy University followed, 895-778 with Gannon filling eight of ten frames.

In the fourth match of the day, the Griffins defeated university of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, 775-736 with Moore and Widmer filling eight frames apiece.

The final match of the day was a bracket match to determine overall place in the tournament.  The cougars won the first baker match 167-124 before the Griffins came back with two straight wins, 223-175 and 200-141 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Caldwell followed with wins in games four and five to take a 3-2 lead.  The Griffins won the sixth game 222-182 and took the match with a with a win in the seventh game to clinch the match 4-3.  Gannon filled all 14 frames in the match while Moore filled 12 of 14.
 
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team returns to action on October 22-23 when they will compete at the Kutztown University Golden Bear Invitational.
