Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Griffins Handed a Hard-fought Loss by Wildcats

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team squared off in the first of two matches this week against defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions Wilmington University.  The two teams battled for nearly three hours with the Wildcats coming out on top 6-1.

The score however wasn't indicative of the match as three of the singles contests went to a third set or a tiebreaker and Wilmington's #1 singles player Neus Ramos Moreno, the defending CACC Player of the Year lost her first dual match of the season.

The Griffins fall to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in CACC games.  Wilmington improves to 7-0 overall and in league play.

The Griffins' only point came at the #1 singles position as Alison Isaac handed Ramos Moreno her first singles loss this season in dual match competition 6-4, 6-2.
Isaac also teamed up with Nele Haag to win at #2 doubles 6-4 but the Griffins lost the doubles point with Wilmington taking the #1 and #3 doubles contests.   Isaac and Haag improved to 7-0 in doubles play in conference matches and 10-0 overall in dual matches with the win.

Going to three sets or a tiebreaker were the #2, #3 and #5 singles contests.  WU's Larize Nel defeated Haag at #5 singles, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 while Romi Meirovich fell at #3 singles 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 to Marley Trifunovic.  Carlota Garcia Arguelles took Jessica Purdy to a tiebreaker, but lost the hard fought match 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).

Claudia Rasilla suffered her first singles loss of the season, falling at #6 singles 6-4, 6-1 to Fenna Swaan and Annika Wise lost at #4 singles, 6-3, 6-0.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis Team returns to action on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 when they travel to Post University to take on the Eagles in a key conference contest.
