Trailing 2-1 in their match against Holy Family University, the Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team rallied to take the first place Tigers to a fifth set for the first time this season. The Tigers however came back from an early three-point deficit in the deciding set to win 15-10 and take the match 3-2.
The loss drops the Griffins record to 10-11 overall and 6-4 in Central Atlantic collegiate conference action. The Tigers, the first place team in the CACC South Division remains unbeaten in league play at 10-0 and improves to 12-9 overall.
The Griffins opened the match with a 25-20 win in the first set. The Tigers came back to win the next two sets 25-23 and 25-22. The Griffins held off a late charge from the Tigers in the fourth set to win 25-21 and even the match at 2-2. The tigers rallied and pulled away late to win the fifth and decisive set 15-10 to take the match.
Henielys Ramos led the Griffins with 23 kills while also recording 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.
Mikayla Grimes also had a double-double, her seventh of the season with 11 kills and ten digs.
Erika Dubosky also had 11 kills while
Angela April added eight while committing just one error.
Torrin Kelley had five aces to lead the team.
Mia Caporellie led all players with 49 assists while setting the Griffins offense.
On the defensive end, Kelley led all players with 19 digs joining Ramos and Grimes in double figures.
Kathryn Hanley had four blocks.
The Griffins will face another tough foe on Saturday as they take on the first place team in the CACC North Division, Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
