Christopher Nelson and
Cole Stanchina recorded top ten finishes and were the first two collegiate runners to cross the finish line at Saturday's Jack St. Clair Memorial Invitational at Belmont Plateau as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Cross Country team placed fifth overall
The Griffins had a score of 168 points, 46 behind fourth place West Chester University and 74 behind fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference school Jefferson University. The Philadelphia Track Club won the race with six runners in the top ten and 17 total points. There were 12 teams that scored at the meet.
Nelson completed the 8,000-meter course in 28:24.1 to place sixth overall. He was the first collegiate runner to finish, with the first five all belonging to area track clubs. Stanchina was right behind him in eighth place and was the second collegiate runner to finish with a time of 28:36.0
Jason Fisher followed with a time of 30:48.3, placing 36
th among the 122 finishers.
Jason Rivas and
Jacob Darcas rounded out the Griffins five finishers with time of 34:13.9 and 35:18.1 respectively.
The CACC Championship Meet is up next for the Chestnut Hill College Men's Cross Country team. The meet is on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
