Romi Meirovich and
Nele Haag won their singles and doubles matches against Wilmington University on Saturday but the Wildcats edged the Griffins 4-3 winning four of the six singles matches.
The Griffins fall to 7-5 overall and 4-5 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. Wilmington remains perfect at 9-0 overall and in league play.
Chestnut Hill started the match by winning the doubles point. Following a tough loss by
Annika Wise and
Lottie Allin at #3 doubles, , Meirovich and
Carlota Garcia Arguelles defeated Neus Ramos Moreno and Jess Purdy 6-3 at #1 doubles and
Alison Isaac and Haag rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Alva Norberg and Marley Trifunovic 7-5 at #2 doubles to secure the doubles point. Isaac and Haag remain undefeated as a doubles team in dual matches this season with a 12-0 record.
Isaac and Wise lost at #1 and #4 singles to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead before Haag defeated Larize Nel 6-1, 6-4 at #5 singles to tie the match. The Wildcats won the next two matches, defeating Garcia Arguelles at #2 singles and
Claudia Rasilla at #6 to secure the match win. Meirovich closed out the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win over Norberg at #3 singles.
The women's tennis team returns to action for their final home conference match of the season , hosting Jefferson University on October 18, 2022.
