Henielys Ramos and
Erika Dubosky combined for 22 kills as the Chestnut Hill College Women's volleyball team won their third straight match, 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-14) over Goldey-Beacom college Tuesday night in Wilmington, Delaware.
The win gives the Griffins a 9-5 conference record, which is good enough to secure a playoff spot in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships. Chestnut Hill swept fifth place Georgian Court University earlier this season and the best the Lions could do is finish with nine wins equaling the Griffins current total if they won their remaining four contests. Overall the Griffins are 13-12. Chestnut Hill is currently in a tie Wilmington University for third place in the CACC south division.Â
Ramos led the Griffins with 12 kills and four service aces while hitting a match high .476 (12 kills – 2 errors – 21 attacks).  Dubosky added ten kills and three aces.Â
Mikayla Grimes added seven kills.Â
Mia Caporellie recorded a double-double with a match-high 27 assists and ten digs.
Defensively, Grimes led the team with 11 digs. Dubosky added four blocks while
Angela April knocked down three.
As a team the Griffins had 36 kills and hit .260 (36-11-96). The team had ten aces, 40 digs and eight total team blocks.
The first set was by far the closest as the Lightning held an early 3-2 lead before a 12-6 run by the Griffins put the visitors in control 14-9. An ace from Ramos, Sandwiched between kills by Dubosky and Grimes pushed the lead to 19-11. Chestnut Hill still led by seven, 23-16 but the Lightning struck for a 6-1 run to close within two 24-22. Ramos then closed out the set with a kill.
The Griffins led wire-to-wire in the second set, jumping out to a 14-8 lead before nine straight serves from Ramos increased the margin to 22-9. The Griffins scored three of the final five points to win the set 25-11.
Goldey-Beacom jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the opening set before the Griffins retook control with an 8-1 run to lead 8-3. And later increased the lead to 14-7. The Lightning would get no closer than 15-10 as the Griffins closed out the match with a 10-4 uprising to win. The set 25-14 and take the match 3-0.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's volleyball team returns to action of Saturday, October 29, 2022 with a CACC crossover match against the University of Bridgeport. Â Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
