The University of Bridgeport snapped the Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team's three match winning streak late Saturday afternoon, defeating the Griffins 3-1 at Sorgenti Arena in Philadelphia.
The Griffins fall to 13-13 overall and 9-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. The Purple Knights improve to 13-17 overall and 12-6 in league play.
Bridgeport took the opening set in a back-and-forth battle 27-25 before the Griffins rallied to tie the match at 1-1 with a 25-18 win in the second set. The Purple knights won the third set 25-19 and held off the Griffins 28-26 in the fourth set to take the match.
Prior to the action on the court, the Griffins recognized and honors their two seniors on this year's squad,
Mikayla Grimes and
Henielys Ramos with a brief ceremony touting their accomplishments as members of the Griffins' volleyball team.

Mia Caporellie broke the Griffins' single season mark for assists with 41 assists in the contest. The junior setter was tied with
Kennedy Sutton's 2016 mark of 935 assists entering the contest and broke the mark on the first rally of the game. Â Â Her 41 assists give her 976 for the season with two regular season games left and a minimum of one playoff game to extend her record.
Grimes, meanwhile led the Griffins with 16 kills, becoming just the sixth player in program history to record 300 or more kills in a season, increasing her total to 308. She joins Ramos as just the third set of teammates and first duo since 2014 to have at least 300 kills in a season.
Ramos added 13 kills to up her single season total to 376, the third highest single season total in program history. She also had seven service aces on the night, giving her 57 for the season, the highest total ever in the program's Division II era.
Angela April and
Erika Dubosky finished with ten kills apiece. April added four aces and four blocks. Her four blocks give her 71 on the season, becoming just the eighth player in program history to record 70 or more blocks in a single season.
On the defensive side, Caporellie added 11 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Dubosky and Grimes had nine and eight digs respectively.
As a team the Griffins had more kills (50-49), and service aces (12-9) than the Purple Knights. Bridgeport had a better hitting night with an attack percentage of .220 (49 kills-23 errors-118 attacks) to CHC's .142 (50-31-134). The Purple Knights also had 14 team blocks to the Griffins' four.
The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team will play their final home game of the season on Monday, October 31, 2022 hosting Caldwell University. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
