Women's Cross Country Team Wins at Cairn

The Chestnut hill College women's Cross Country team ran their final tuneup before competing at the upcoming NCAA Division II East Regional Championship meet on Saturday, defeating Cairn University in the Cairn 4K Challenge Monday afternoon in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins took seven of the top eight places as they cruised to a 20-43 win over the Highlanders.  Cairn's Ayli Grace Munro won the race in 17:49.2 with the entire Chestnut Hill team following before the next Cairn runner crossed the line.

Gabby Hassler and Sydney Watts finished second and third respectively with identical times of 18:21.5.  Rebecca Dalton followed in fourth place with a time of 20:17.2 with Marcela Banuelos close behind at 20:17.7 for a fifth place finish.

Aubrey Elias and Lilly Short placed sixth and seventh respectively with times of 20:43.9 and 20:44.0.  Taylor Kirby rounded out the CHC seven in eighth place with a time of 21:17.2

The NCAA East Regional Championship is up next for the Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team.  The meet will be at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York.  The women's 6,000-meter race is set to start at 1:15 p.m. with the men's 10,000 meter race going off at 12:00 p.m.
