Led by strong performances from junior
Maddie Gannon and freshman
Kayleina McGonigal, the Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team won three matches on the first day of the Coppin State University Lady Eagles invitational in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday.
The Griffins went 3-2 in the five matches and currently sit in fifth place with a total pinfall of 4,259.
McGonigal and Gannon both finished the first day with traditional match totals of 907, tying for seventh place overall.Â
Jessica Hollabaugh was 11
th with a total pinfall of 875 and
Hope Widmer 17
th with a total of 831 pins.
Gannon and McGonigal led the way in the Griffins first match of the day as they defeated Norfolk State University 996-717. Gannon rolled a 234 while McGonigal scored a 217.  Widmer and Hollabaugh bowled 191 and 180 respectively.
Kutztown University got the better of the Griffins in the second match, 878-784. Widmer led the way with a score of 191. Bryant University handed the Griffins their second loss of the day 794-753 in the third match. Gannon led Chestnut Hill with a score of 168 while
Eryn Moore followed with a 167.
The Griffins won their final two matches of the day, beating Wagner College 822-783 and Saint Anselm College 904-811. Hollabaugh led the team with a score of 191 with Gannon close behind with a score of 183. Hollabaugh had her best match of the day against Saint Anselm, bowling a 226. Gannon and McGonigal followed with scores of 198 and 194 respectively.
The CSU Lady Eagles Invitational concludes tomorrow with the Baker format portion of the tournament.
