Henielys Ramos broke the Chestnut Hill College single season record for kills with a match high 20 against Jefferson University but the Griffins were handed a 3-1 loss in their final regular season contest.
The Griffins are now 14-14 overall and finish the season 10-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. Their 10-7 conference record places them fourth in the CACC South division and qualifies the team for post season play. Chestnut Hill will travel to Bloomfield College for their quarterfinal playoff game on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Ramos entered the night needing 19 kills to eclipse Rachel Biro's mark of 410 kills in the 2014 season. The senior right side hitter had ten kills in the first two sets to become the second player to eclipse 400 kills in a season and added six more in the third set, leaving herself two shy of tying the record and three of breaking it.
The Griffins struggled for points in the latter part of the fourth set as Ramos did get two early kills to tie the record with her second bringing the Griffins within one, 9-8. Her record breaking kill broke a string of 12 straight points from the Rams and her final kill of the night, her 412
th of the season was the Griffins' final point of the match. Ramos had just two attack errors in 44 swings for a .409 attack percentage, the 24
th time this season she has hit above the league average attack percentage.
The Rams had taken the first two sets by identical 25-19 scores before the Griffins put together one of their better sets of the season with 17 kills and just one attack error as they pulled within one, 2-1 with a 25-17 win in the third set. The big run by the Rams in the fourth set led to a 25-10 win for the hosts who also competed the match with a 3-1 victory.
Mikayla Grimes joined Ramos in double figures with 17 kills, adding to her career-best mark of 342 kills in a season, the fifth highest total in program history. Grimes and Ramos become just the third duo to both record 300 kills in season and the first since 2014 (Biro-410; Madison McBride -320).
Ramos and Grimes both recorded their tenth double-double of the season with the two hitters getting 14 digs apiece.  Setter
Mia Caporellie had 42 assists and 11 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.Â
Also on defense,
Erika Dubosky added 11 digs and two blocks.Â
