The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team took home fourth place as the Coppin State University Lady Eagles invitational concluded on Sunday at AMF Woodlawn Lanes in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Griffins finished the tournament with a 4-4 overall record and improved to 16-24 on the season.
Sunday's Baker format matches started off well for the Griffins. In the opener the team bowled an 861 with a bye.Â
Eryn Moore, Kayleina McGonigal and
Maddie Gannon all filled seven of ten frames. Chestnut Hill followed with an 859-782 win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Caldwell University. Gannon filled nine of ten frames to lead the Griffins.
Based on the two baker matches and Saturday's five traditional matches, the Griffins were seeded second heading into the Best-of-Seven baker bracket finals and took on third seed and fellow CACC School Bloomfield College. The Bears won the first two games 159-145 and 142-136 before the Griffins closed the gap to 2-1 with a 173-152 win in game three. The Bears closed out the match with wins in the final two games, 155-141 and 163-160 to win the match 4-1.Â
Jess Hollabaugh and
Hope Widmer filled seven of ten frames apiece to lead the Griffins.
Chestnut Hill then took on Kutztown University in their final match of the day, falling to the golden Bears 4-2. KU won the first two games 202-143 and 216-147 while CHC took game three 172-156. Kutztown took a 3-1 lead  in the match with a 200-151 win in game four before the Griffins bounced back with a 151-136 win in game five to close to 3-2. The Golden Bears closed out the match with a 179-164 win in game six. Gannon led the team, filling nine of 12 frames.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team returns to action on January 20-22 when they compete in the Northeast Invitational, hosted by Sacred Heart University in Deptford, New Jersey.  Â
