Griffins Pick Up Two Wins on Final Day of Medaille Brunswick Invite to Finish in Seventh Place

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team picked up a pair of wins on Sunday at the Medaille Brunswick Invitational to close out the competition at 5-5 for the weekend and finish in seventh place overall.

Competing in Baker format matches on Sunday, the Griffins opened the day with a close 799-771 loss to Daemen University.  Kayleina McGonigal filled eight of ten frames while Maddie Gannon filled seven.

The Griffins took on host Medaille University in the next match, losing to the eventual tournament champion 981-82.  Gannon filled nine of ten frames while Eryn Moore filled eight.

In the final Baker match decided by total pins, the Griffins defeated Mercyhurst University 934-888 with Gannon and Moore both filling nine of ten frames.

Chestnut Hill's last two matches were best-of-seven baker matches.  The Griffins lost their first match to D'Youville University 4-3.  The Griffins won the first game 167-154 before dropping the next two 204-141 and 162-143.  They evened the match at 2-2 with a 185-180 win in game number four.  D'Youville went ahead 3-2, defeating the Griffins 206-177 in the fifth game before the Griffins tied it up with a 169-157 win in game six.  The Saints took game same and the match with a 181-147 win. Gannon filled 13 of 14 frames while McGonigal filled ten of 14

In the final match of the day, the Griffins won four straight Baker matches against Daemen after losing the first 168-159 to win the contest 4-1.  CHC won game two 199-174, game three 159-146, game four: 211-163 and the fifth and deciding game 168-150.  Gannon filled nine of ten frames while Moore filled eight of eight.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team returns to action on November 19-20 when they compete at the Coppin State University Lady Eagles Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland.
