The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team won two of their three matches on the final day of competition at the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State University and held at the AMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Maryland.
The Griffins finished the competition in 13
th place but went 5-8 on the weekend with their two wins in the Best of Seven Baker format competition on Sunday.
In the opening match, the Griffins defeated Mount Aloysius College 4-2, taking the first two games 147-135 and 171-137. Mt. Aloysius won the next two games to even the score at 2-2 before the Griffins captured the fifth and sixth game (179-166, 201-113) to win the match.Â
Maddie Gannon (Glenolden, Pa.) Â and
Jess Hollabaugh (Folsom, Pa.) Â Â each filled ten of 12 frames in the match.
The second match of the day saw St. Francis of Brooklyn defeat Chestnut Hill 4-3 in an exciting contest. The Griffins again won the first two games, 221-167 and 191-159. St. Francis took the next three to lead the match 3-2 before the Griffins rallied to with a 195-189 win in game six to tie the match and force a decisive game seven. St. Francis went on to win game seven 189-182 to win the match. Gannon again led the Griffins, filling 12 of 14 frames while Hollabaugh and
Eryn Moore (Bainbridge, Pa.) filled 11 of 14.Â
Chase Clifford (Philadelphia, Pa.) had her best match of the year, filling nine of 14 frames.
The final match of the day saw Chestnut Hill again taking on Mount Aloysius College, scoring a decisive 4-0 win over the Mounties. (196-151; 187-176; 167-166; 142-132).Â
Hope Widmer (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and Hollabaugh filled seven of eight frames in the contest while Gannon and Moore filled six of eight. Â Â Â Â
The Chestnut Hill Women's Bowling Team will be back in action on Friday, February 18, 2022 when they compete at the Wilmington Invitational at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware.
