Griffins Finish Eighth at Wildcat Invitational with Two Wins on Final Day

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team won two of their three matches on Sunday at the Wildcat Invitational to finish in eighth place at the three-day event hosted by Wilmington University at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware.

The Griffins opened Sunday's best of seven Baker Format matches competition against New Jersey City University winning the match 4-1.  Maddie Gannon (Glenolden, Pa.) filled eight of ten frames in the match while Hope Widmer (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and Eryn Moore (Bainbridge, Pa.) filled seven of ten.

Chestnut Hill won the first two games 127-116 and 169-116 before NJCU narrowly took game three 136-127.  The Griffins went on to easily win the next two to capture the match, 186-133 and 153-134.
Gannon filled 11 of 12 frames in the Griffins next match, a 4-2 win over Bloomfield College.  The two teams alternated wins with the Griffins winning games one and three and the Bears games two and four.  Chestnut Hill completed the match by winning the next two games, 192-166 and 213-189.

Jess Hollabaugh (Folsom, Pa.) filled ten of 12 frames against Bloomfield while Gannon, in addition to her near perfect fill mark, was 14 of 20 in strike attempts, including a string of eight strikes in a row to finish the match.

In the final match of the day against Felician University, Gannon started the match with seven strikes in a row, giving her a school record 15 consecutive strikes.  The junior bowler filled all 14 frames in the seven-game match and struck on 18 of 26 attempts.  The Golden Falcons however, ultimately prevailed winning the final game to win the match 4-3.

The Griffins won games two  (195-168) and three (186-185) to take a 2-1 lead in the match before Felician captured the next two games to go up 3-2 in the contest. The Griffins won game six 215-204 before falling in game seven 187-173.

Chestnut hill finished 5-8 on the weekend are now 21-44 on the season.
