The Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Jefferson University Rams Friday afternoon in the first lacrosse game played at the Chestnut Hill College athletic field on campus this season. The Rams handed the Griffins their fourth loss this season.
The Griffins play nearly all their games at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. Friday's game, a non-conference match between the two area rivals was originally scheduled at Victory Field for 7:00 p.m. but the time was moved up to 4:30 p.m. allowing for the move to campus.
Mel Amador (Cape May, N.J.) saved 25 shots in goal for the Griffins, breaking her own career high set just one game earlier against Molloy. The junior goalkeeper now has 74 saves on the season for the Griffins (1-4). (2
nd in the CACC). Her 74 saves also rank her among the top ten saves leaders in NCAA Division II. Amador continues to lead the NCAA in saves/game (18.5).
Rexney Thenor (Burlington, N.J.) led the Griffins with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Ashley Watson (Bristol, Conn.) won three draw controls while Thenor and
Elizabeth Bennett (Swedesboro, N.J.) had two apiece.
For the Rams (1-3), Carina Raymond led Jefferson with six goals and seven total points as the Rams won the contest 21-0.
The Chestnut Hill College women's Lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 with a home contest against Wilmington University at Victory field. First draw is at 7:00 p.m.
