Revak Scores 100th Career Goal as Griffins Cruise to Big Win over Lions

Ben Revak scored the 100th goal of his career and added two more for good measure as the Chestnut Hill College Men's lacrosse team scored early and often as they defeated Georgian Court University 20-10 Wednesday night at Victory Field #1 in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins improve to 8-6 overall with the win and 4-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games.  The lions fall to 5-10 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Revak (Aston, Pa.) entered the game needing three goals to become the fifth player in program history and second this season to reach the coveted 100-goal milestone, scoring three goals in the first 2:38 of the game to reach 100 for his career.  He added a fourth goal later in the period and a man-up score late in the third quarter to finish the game with five goals and 102 for his career.  It was Revak's second five goal game in the Griffins' last three contests.  The graduate attack also added an assist to finish with six points.

J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) added four goals and four assists to finish with a game high eight points while Maurice Kelly (Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta) tallied three goals and four assists to finish with seven points on the night.  Liam McCann (Edmonton, Alberta) scored two goals.

Zach Schultz (Selbyville, Del.) led the team with six ground balls while Dan Grubb (Quakertown, Pa.) and Kyle Gartenmayer (Holland, Pa.) had three caused turnovers apiece.  Austin Jones (Courtice, Ontario) earned the win, recording ten saves in 48 minutes of action.

After Revak staked the Griffins to an early 3-0 lead, Kelly scored just 80 seconds later to boost the score to 4-0.   Jack Clyne (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), Revak and McCann added goals as the period progressed giving the Griffins a 7-3 lead heading into the second quarter.

Kelly and Howell scored two goals apiece in the second quarter along with goals by Billy DeMaio (Holmdel, N.J.) and P.J. Spernal (Jackson, N.J.) as the Griffins outscored the Lions 6-3 in the period to take a 13-6 lead at halftime. Howell also assisted on Spernal's goal and Kelly's second of the period.

The Griffins opened up a ten goal lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Lions 4-1 to take a 17-7 lead into the final period, getting another two goals from Howell and man-up goals from McCann and Revak.

Billy Garavente (Fair Haven, N.J.), Mickey Holland (Brick, N.J.) and Sam Slater (Dovel, Del.) scored fourth quarter goals as the Griffins settled in for the ten-goal win.

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Lacrosse team will play their final regular season game on Saturday, April 23, 2022 when they host Caldwell University.  The game will be played on campus at the CHC Athletic Field.  First faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m. following ceremonies honoring the Griffins' senior players.
