Griffins Picked 11th in CACC Men's Soccer Coaches Poll

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Commissioner Dan Mara has released the results of the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll. Chestnut Hill College finished 11th in the forecasted standings with 50 total points. Meanwhile   Wilmington university narrowly edged out three-time defending CACC Champion Post University 148-147 to take home the top two places in the poll. The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 13 head coaches in the sport. 

Wilmington garnered seven first place votes while Post received four fist places votes to finish just one point behind the Wildcats. Dominican University and Georgian court University received the remaining first place votes with Domincan finishing with 134 points and one first place vote and Georgian Court University with 115 points and one first place vote.

Rounding out the poll were Holy Family University (100 points), Thomas Jefferson University ( 95) ; Nyack college (86); CACC newcomer University of Bridgeport (79); Goldey-Beacom College (69); Felician University (67); Chestnut Hill College (50); Bloomfield College (41) and  Caldwell University (39.
 
Chestnut Hill College, under first year coach Ahmed Elgayar  produced a 2-13-1 record  with conference wins over Bloomfield and Goldey-Beacom and a tie against Jefferson.  The Griffins return just 12 players from their 2021 squad including leading scorer A.J. McIntyre.  McIntyre led the team with eight goals and two assists, earning second team All-CACC honors for 2021 as a rookie.  Senior goalkeeper Bryce Fadako returns for his final season after appearing in four games last year while junior Diego Cabrera and sophomore Manny Weagba, Jr. are the other two returning Griffins who scored goals for the team last season.
 
The Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team begins their 2022 season with a August 31 contest at Queens College in New York. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The regular season will be a buildup to the 2022 CACC Championship, which will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 1 with the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals and championship final on Nov. 4 and 6, at Holy Family University in Philadelphia. The quarterfinals will be held at the sites of the highest seeds. The winner of the CACC Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament in late November at a site to be determined.

Sport sponsorship within the conference will rise from 12 schools to 13 for the 2022 campaign, as University of the Bridgeport enters the CACC as a new member beginning in the 2022-23 academic year.
