Ramos Ties Kills Record as Griffins Defeat Georgian Court 3-0

Henielys Ramos tied the Chestnut Hill college record for kills in a three-set match as the Griffins women's volleyball team swept Georgian Court University 3-0 Tuesday night in Lakewood, New Jersey.

The win was the Griffins' first ever win on the lions home court in Lakewood, New Jersey, having been winless in their previous 12 matches there.  The win was also the first time the Griffins ever swept the Lions in contest.  The Griffins improve to 3-8 overall and 1-1 in central Atlantic Collegiate conference games.  The Lions fall to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Ramos recorded 19 kills in the match, tying the record set by Corinne Kalala in 2019 against Goldey-Beacom College.  The senior right-side hitter had six kills in each of the first two sets and notched seven in the third to tie the record.  She also finished the match with three blocks, six digs, a service ace and an assist.

Mikayla Grimes and Erika Dubosky had nine kills apiece. Dubosky added three aces.   Mia Caporellie led all players with 37 assists.  On defense, Torrin Kelley led the team with 13 digs while Angela April and Kathryn Hanley recorded four blocks apiece.

The Griffins led wire-to-wire in the first setting winning by a score of 25-19 and never trailed in the second winning 25-21 with the lions managing to forge one tie at 10-10.
The third and final set was the closest with a total of 13 ties and seven lead changes before the Griffins scored the final three points to take the set 25-22 and complete the sweep.

Nylene Mateo led Georgian court with nine kills while Jana Borkovic had nine digs.  Emma Gildea had five blocks.

The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team returns to action on Thursday, September 15, 2022 when they host Post university for a CACC crossover match. At Sorgenti Arena.  Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
