Four players recorded double-doubles as the Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team won their third straight match, defeating Bloomsburg university 3-0 Tuesday night in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 5-8 with the win while Bloomsburg falls to 2-11. Chestnut Hill won the first game 25-16 but needed an extra point to win the second set 26-24 before cruising to a 25-17 win I the third set.
In the win the Griffins set two team records for three-set matches, most kills (56) and most assists (54).
Henielys Ramos, the reigning CACC player of the Week picked up where she left off last week with a game high 17 kills while adding 11 digs for her third double-double of the season.Â
Erika Dubosky also notched her third double-double of 2022 with 13 kills and 13 digs, while
Mikayla Grimes had 10 kills and 13 digs, recording her third double-double of the season.Â
Setting the Griffin offense was
Mia Caporellie, the CACC's reigning Setter of the Week. Caporellie recorded 41 assists, narrowly missing the three-set school mark of 43 set back in 2013 by Emily Drew vs. USciences. Caporellie added 12 digs for her third double-double of the season. She also had two aces.
Torrin Kelley led all players with 20 digs while Caporellie and
Angela April had a block apiece.
The Griffins trailed 6-1 early in the first set and were still down by five when a 6-0 run erased the deficit and gave Chestnut Hill an 11-10 lead. A Bloomsburg kill tied the score at 11-11 before another Griffin run put Chestnut Hill ahead 17-12. Bloomsburg closed within four 20-16 before the Griffins rallied with five straight kills to win the set 25-16.
Bloomsburg led for almost the entirety of the second set and were ahead 22-17 when Dubosky rattled off three straight kills to close the gap to 22-20. Â Following a Husky point,
Kathryn Hanley, Dubosky and Ramos scored consecutive kills to tie the game at 23-23. A Caporellie ace gave the Griffins their first lead in the set, 24-23 but again the Huskies tied the score. Dubosky and Ramos followed with back-to-back kills to give the Griffins a 26-24 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Chestnut Hill never trailed in the final set, turning a 3-3 tie into a big lead with a 9-1 run to lead 12-4. The Griffins increased the lead to 20-9 before Bloomsburg used a 7-2 run to close within six 22-16. Caporellie and Dubosky closed out the match with back-to-back kills.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team is back in action on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 when they travel to face Wilmington University.
