Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lackluster Half Dooms Griffins as Wildcats Prevail, 3-0

A lackluster first half by the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team in Wednesday's game against Daemen University led to three Wildcat goals in the first half which was all that Daemen needed s they defeated the Griffins 3-0 at victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins fall to 0-5-2 with the loss while Daemen improves to 3-3-1.

A turnover deep within their own territory  led to the first Wildcat goal just 15 minutes into the game as Nassim Zahouani fired a shot past CHC goalkeeper Stephen Connor for a 1-0 lead.
Zahouani assisted on the next Daemen score at the 28-minute mark passing off to Cody Cavouto who put in into the net.  Daemen's Eman Wajed made it 3-0 at the 40:46 mark taking a cross pass  and one-timing into the net past Connor.

The lackluster play continued early in the second half and just ten minutes in Coach Ahmed Elgayar started to shift thing and began to rest many of his regulars. Energy level shifted and the Griffins began to control the tempo of play.  Chestnut Hill had three corner kicks within a six-minute span after Elgayar finished making his substitutions and continued to push the tempo.

Evan Walters was stellar on defense while also constantly pushing the ball forward on offense.  Robert Sparrow contributed two shots, including one on goal in a late flurry on the left side of the box late in the game. Grant Chaboudy was solid throughout and  Adam Manfaa, C.J. Mbaekwe and Terrence Doe also provided a second half spark off the bench.

Connor made three saves in 62 minutes of action for the Griffins while backup Connor McGrogan had one save while playing the final 28 minutes.

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team is back in action on Saturday, September 24, 2022 when they host Dominican University (NY) at victory Field.  Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
