The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team got back on the winning track Saturday afternoon as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Alliance University at Sorgenti Arena in Philadelphia.
The Griffins improve to 6-9 overall and 3-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. Alliance drops to 0-5 in league play and 1-13 overall. Chestnut Hill won the first set 25-15 before Nyack nearly pulled off a win in set two before the Griffins prevailed 25-22. CHC went on to take the third set 25-16..
Henielys Ramos led all players with 11 kills, more than double than any member of the Alliance squad,Â
 Mikayla Grimes added ten while
Angela April had nine and
Erika Dubosky eight.Â
Mia Caporellie recorded 33 assists, the fourth straight three-set match that she has had 30 or more assists. The junior setter is averaging 10.5 assists per set in the Griffins three-set contests while Chestnut Hill has produced a 4-4 record in such matches.
On the defensive side,
Chloe Mettille led the Griffins with 11 digs while Grimes and Caporellie had seven apiece. April had three blocks to lead all players.
Grimes had half her kills in the first set as the Griffins took a one point lead, 11-10 and outscored Alliance 14-5 over the next 19 rallies to pull away with a 25-15 win. Five different Griffins had two or more kills in the set to pace the CHC offense.
Chestnut hill led 22-14 in the second set before Alliance rallied with seven straight points to close within one 22-21. An Alliance service error put the Griffinsd back up by two and both teams exchanged points until a kill by AU's Jamie Willix again closed the gap to one 24-23. Ramos then shut the door with her fourth kills of the set to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-23 win.
Alliance found themselves with a four-point lead early in the third set, 9-5 before the Griffins used an 11-3 run to take control of the game 16-12. Later in the set, two straight aces from Ramos pushed the score to 22-13. Two attack errors by Alliance provided the final two points of the match for the Griffins as they prevailed 25-16.
Jada Hamilton led alliance with five kills and 11 digs.
For the match, the Griffins finished with 43 kills to 22 from Alliance and had a .2345 attack percentage (43-16-110). Alliance hit .099 (22-14-81). Chestnut Hill out-aced Alliance 10-4 while both teams finished the match with 37 digs.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's volleyball Team is back in action on Wednesday, October 28, 2022 when they host West Chester University at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
