Henielys Ramos and
Mikayla Grimes combined for 35 kills as the Chestnut Hill college women's volleyball team defeated West Chester University 3-1 Wednesday night at Sorgenti Arena in Philadelphia.
The win is the first ever in program history against the Golden Rams in nine tries dating back to 2009. The Griffins trailed late in the first two sets and rallied to win 25-23 and 27-25  before West Chester turned the tables to take the third set 28-26. Chestnut Hill then dominated the fourth and final set 25-14 to win the match.
The Griffins improve to 7-9 while handing the Golden Rams their second lost of the season (13-2).
Ramos led all players with 18 kills while Grimes added 17.Â
Angela April and
Erika Dubosky had nine and eight kills respectively. Ramos also recorded four service aces. Dubosky and
Kathryn Hanley had two aces apiece.
Mia Caporellie, the reigning CACC Setter of the Week had another stellar game with 48 assists. She also had two service aces on the night.
On the defensive side. Grimes and Dubosky had 14 and 13 kills respectively while
Torrin Kelley added 11. For Grimes it marked her fourth double-double of the season. Hanley had three blocks while Caporellie and April had two apiece.
For the match the Griffins finished with 58 kills to WCU's 49. Chestnut Hill had 62 digs while West Chester had 58. The Griffins also had a 12-5 advantage in service aces.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team will be back in action on Thursday, September 29, 2022 when they host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC Division match. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
