The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team concluded their competition at the Marauder Clash at Millersville University on Saturday with a pair of 3-1 losses to undefeated Fairmont State University and West Chester University.
The Griffins fall to 1-6 with the two losses. Fairmont State improved to 8-0 while West Chester upped their record to 8-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of Fairmont State on Friday.
Fairmont State won the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-17 with the Griffins winning the third set 25-21. Fairmont then captured the match with a 25-13 win in the fourth set.
Henielys Ramos (Trujillo Alto, P.R.) and
Angela April (Ridley, Pa.) led the Griffins with 13 kills apiece.Â
Mikayla Grimes (Fresno, Calif.) added nine kills.Â
Mia Caporellie (Downingtown, Pa.) had 38 assists setting the Griffins' offense and added two service aces.Â
Torrin Kelley (Hanover, Pa.) led the team with 15 digs while
Erika Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa.) had 11 digs. April led the team with five blocks while Ramos and
Kathryn Hanley (North Wales, Pa.) had three and two blocks respectively.
In Chestnut Hill's final match of the day, West Chester pulled out a 30-28 win in the opening set before the Griffins evened the match at 1-1 with a 26-24 win in set number two. The Golden Rams went on to take the final two sets 25-9 and 25-15.
Grimes recorded 13 kills to lead the Griffins. Ramos and Dubosky had 12 kills apiece. Dubosky completed the double-double with 11 digs and also added 4 service aces. Caporellie notched 38 assists for the second match in a row. Kelley paced Chestnut Hill's defense with 19 digs while April had three blocks.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, September 6 when they travel to face another Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team, Shippensburg University. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
