Mia Caporellie recorded her 1,000
th career assist as the Chestnut Hill college women's volleyball team lost to Shippensburg University 3-0 Tuesday night at Heiges Field house in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
Caporellie (Downingtown, Pa.) becomes the fifth player in program history to record 1,000 career assists and the first since Griffins all-time leader Kennedy Sutton recorded her 1,000
th assist in 2016 en route to a record 3,522 for her career.
The Griffins fall to 1-7 with the loss while Shippensburg improves to 5-4. The Raiders won via scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-21.
Caporellie entered the game needing just seven assists to reach the 1,000 milestone, reaching the mark late in the first set on
Erika Dubosky's (Summit Hill, Pa.) kill that brought the Griffins within five 21-16. The junior setter finished the game with 26 total assists, giving her 1,019 and moving into fourth place on the Griffins' all-time list.
Mikayla Grimes (Fresno, Calif.) led the Griffins with ten kills and three service aces while Dubosky added nine kills and two aces. Libero
Chloe Mettille (North Wales, Pa.) returned to the lineup and led all players with 18 digs while also recording two aces.Â
Angela April (Ridley, Pa.) had four blocks on the night while Grimes added three.
Kaitlyn Townsend paced the Raiders with ten kills and four blocks while Erica Lampus led the team with 11 digs. Â Â
The Chestnut Hill college women's volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, September 10, 2022 when they host Pace University. Tipoff is set for noon at Sorgenti Arena.
