A doubles sweep by the Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team set the stage for a 6-1 win over Dominican University of New York Friday afternoon at Manny Welder Park in Monsey, New York.
The Griffins evened their record in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contests at 2-2 and improved to 5-2 overall. Dominican falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Lottie Allin and
Annika Wise started things off with a 6-2 win at #3 doubles over Bipasha Mehn and Ava O'Brien.Â
Nele Haag and
Alison Isaac followed with a 6-1 win over Vanya Tyagi and Nora Frederick at #2 doubles.Â
Carlota Garcia Arguelles and
Romi Meirovich completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win over Steffy Espejo and Rupkatha Mukherjee at #1 doubles.
Moving to singles, wise gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead with a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win over Frederick at #5 singles and Allin took care of O'Brien 6-1, 6-0 at #6 singles. Meirovich, who moved up to #4 singles for the match, clinched the win for the Griffins with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Mukherjee.
Haag won her #3 singles match over Tyagi 6-1, 6-4 and Garcia Arguelles earned the win at #1 singles 6-0, 6-4. Dominican earned the final point of the match with a win at #2 singles.
Saturday's match at Saint Thomas Aquinas College has been postponed and will be played on October 10, 2022. The Griffins will return home to take on the defending CACC Champions Wilmington University at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is at 2:00 p.m.
