It was a bittersweet night for the Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team as they celebrated senior guard
Lauren Crim getting her 1,000
th career point but lost to Georgian Court University 61-54 Tuesday night at the GCU Wellness Center in Lakewood, New Jersey.
The Griffins fall to 10-7 overall and 5-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Lions improve to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in league games. The loss snaps the Griffins five game winning streak.
Crim entered the game needing five points to reach the coveted milestone and scored her first basket midway through the second quarter.  At the 3:05 mark of the period, Crim drove to the right and hit a jumper just inside the three-point arc for her fifth point of the game, becoming the 11
th player in program history to score 1,000 points for their career.
For the game,
Emily Sekerak was the only Griffins player in double figures with ten points.Â
Bri Hewlett and
Bri Rider added six points apiece. Rider led the team with five rebounds.  Crim and
Avery White had two assists apiece while
Abbey Spratt,
Siobhan Boylan and Sekerak had two blocks apiece.
The 61 points allowed by Chestnut Hill is only the third time this season that a team has scored 60 or more points against the Griffins. The Griffins also saw their streak of five games holding opponents under 35% shooting come to an end as the Lions shot 44.1% from the field. Conversely the Griffins shot just 36.4%
Jariah Patterson led the Lions with 19 points while Paula Perez added ten. A'nya Harper led all players with nine rebounds and three blocks.
The women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, January 21, 2023 when they travel to face Felician University in Rutherford, New Jersey. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
