A sloppy course thanks to the recent rainy weather affected the Chestnut Hill college Men's cross country team's performance as they placed 31
st at the 2023 Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins scored 802 points to place 31
st out of 37 teams competing in the 8,000-meter White Race.
Junior
Cole Stanchina did become just the second runner in program history to complete three or more 8K races in under 27 minutes, finishing with a time of 26:53.8, his third sub-27 effort of his career. He joins Zigmund Fisher (five sub-27 minute races) as the second three-time sub-27 minute racer in program history. Stanchina placed 37
th overall out of 376 finishers.
Christopher Nelson was the second griffin to finish, completing his 8K effort in 28:06.06 and placing 125
th overall.Â
Jason Fisher finished in 28:59.4 to become the third Chestnut Hill finisher.
Rounding out the Griffins' runners were
Demitri Pierre Perez and
Elijah Williams. Pierre-Perez finished in 44:28.9 while Williams crossed the finish line in 50:05.3.
The Chestnut Hill College Men's Cross country team returns to action on Saturday, October 7, 2023, when they will compete at the Jack St. Clair Invitational at historic Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
