The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team recorded three wins in the five matches on the first day of Bud Whitman Memorial Invitational hosted by the Griffins at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware on Saturday
It was a total team effort from the Griffins that produced the winning record on the day as the Griffins earned wins against Wilmington University (pre-season favorite in the Central Atlantic Collegiate conference), Coppin State University and St. Anselm College. The Griffins finished the afternoon in ninth place among the 13-team field.
Defending CACC champion Caldwell University dealt the Griffins a 912-679 loss to open the tournament.Â
Eryn Moore led CHC with a score of 148 while
Jess Hollabaugh added 139.Â
Chase Clifford topped the Griffins' five bowlers in the next match with a score of 172 while Moore added 167 as the Griffins defeated Coppin State 742-726. Chestnut Hill then turned in its best match of the day defeating conference pre-season favorite Wilmington University 938- 868. Clifford rolled a career-high 209 while
Kayleina McGonigal added a score of 202. CHC's freshman duo of
Abbey Crumb and
Gabriella Munsey registered scores of 190 and 189 respectively in the win over Wilmington.
Hollabaugh led the Griffins with a score of 191 in their fourth match as Chestnut Hill fell to Long Island University 946-838. The Griffins rebounded to take their final match of the day, beating St. Anselm 893-765 with McGonigal rolling her high game of the day with a score of 201. Moore added 198 while Hollabaugh rolled a 192. Â
Competition resumes at the Bud Whitman Memorial Invitational on Sunday as the Griffins look to climb in the standings with the teams competing in four baker format matches followed by a best-of-seven baker match to determine final placing.
