Felician University rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team 3-2 Sunday afternoon in a Central Atlantic collegiate conference crossover match at Sorgenti Arena.
The Griffins fall to 6-11 overall with the loss and 5-3 in CACC matches. The Golden Falcons improve to 6-3 in league play and 8-11 overall.
The two teams split the first two sets with the Griffins winning the first 25-21 and the Golden Falcons the second, 25-20. Chestnut Hill then took a 2-1 lead with a 25-14 win in the third set. Felician rallied to take the fourth set 25-19 and then came back from a four point deficit in the deciding set to win 16-14.
Three Griffin players recorded double-doubles on the night with
Erika Dubosky leading the team with 17 kills while adding 18 digs on the defensive end.Â
Rachel Mace led all players with 21 digs while recording 12 kills. Setting the Griffins offense was
Mia Caporellie. Caporellie recorded her fifth straight double-double with 48 assists and 11 digs.Â
Chloe Mettille led all players with a career-high six service aces.
Defensively
Angela April had five blocks (three solo) while
Maya Hopson had three (one solo). Dubosky also had three blocks (one solo). Â
Natalie Albin also reached double figures in digs with 14.Â
Comparing the two teams, the Griffins had 11 more kills (53-42) and four more aces (12-8). CHC did struggle hitting in the final two sets, recording 17 errors to just 18 kills while Felician had 20 kills and just ten errors.
The women's volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 when they host Goldey-Beacom College at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
