Griffins Close Out Fall Home Schedule with Win over Chargers

In their final fall match of the 2023-24 season, the Chestnut Hill women's tennis team swept the doubles competition and captured four of the six singles matches to earn a 5-2 win over Dominican University Monday afternoon at the CHC tennis Courts.

The match was originally scheduled for September 25 but was postponed due to inclement weather.  The griffins improve to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.  The Chargers fall to 2-8 overall and 2-7 in league play.

The Griffins jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a sweep of the three doubles matches.  Annika Wise and Elena Arenas Guisasola defeated Pretti Koli and Vanya Tiagi 6-1 at #3 doubles to start things off.   Alison Isaac and Nele Haag improved to 7-2 in double play against CACC foes with a 6-2 win over Lia Sajveladze and Angelina Amelkina at #2 doubles, clinching the doubles point.  Romi Meirovich and Lilian Bandel completed the sweep with a 6-2 win at #1 doubles over Bipasha Mehn and Selina Donecker.

Meirovich gave the Griffins their second point with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #5 singles over Koli.  Claudia Rasilla followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Tyagi at #4 singles.

The Chargers got on the board with a win at #2 singles before Arenas Guisasola clinched the match with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 win at #6 singles over Sajveladze.  Isaac also needed three sets to secure a win over Amelkina at #1 singles, defeating the Charger player 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.  Dominican scored their last point with a three-set win at #3 singles.

The women's tennis team, locked in as the #3 seed for the upcoming CACC tournament, will close out the regular season with a match at Post University.  First serve is set for 3 p.m.   In the upcoming CACC Tournament, the Griffins will face #2 seed Jefferson University in the semi-finals at 1 p.m.at the Delcastle Tennis Center on Friday October 19
