Alison Isaac and
Annika Wise won both their matches at the Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team defeated Post University 4-3 at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Center in Middlebury, Connecticut Tuesday afternoon.
The Griffins head into the CACC Championship Tournament with a 9-4 overall record and a 7-3 mark in conference games. Post finishes with a 6-9 overall record and a 3-7 mark in league play. The Griffins will be the #3 seed in the upcoming tournament and will play #2 seed Jefferson University in the semi-finals on Friday. Post qualifies for the conference championship despite the loss and will be the #4 seed.
Isaac teamed up with
Nele Haag to earn a 7-5 win at #2 doubles over Annunciata DeSouza and Natalia Gonzalez. The win clinched the doubles point and gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the match.
Wise and
Elena Arenas Guisasola were Chestnut Hill's first doubles winners, defeating Oceane Mallevre and Nina Langenfeld 6-3 at #3 doubles.
Post tied the match with a win at #1 singles before
Romi Meirovich put the Griffins back on top with a 6-2, 6-3 win at #4 singles over Megan Lombardt. Isaac followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Micaela Rosignoulo at #2 singles, pushing CHC's lead to 3-1.
Wise clinched the match for the Griffins with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Langenfeld at #5 singles. The Eagles won the final two matches to make the final score 4-3.
The CACC Tournament Semi-finals begin on Friday October 20 at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, Delaware. The Griffins will play in the second semi-final match, starting at 1:00 p.m. against #2 seed Jefferson University.
