The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team opened their 2023-24 season on Sunday with match against nationally ranked Mount St. Mary's University.  The Mountaineers took two of the three matches winning the first two Baker format matches before the Griffins won the final best-of-seven Baker format play, capturing the seventh game by a single pin.  
 
The Mountaineers took the first match 1001-772.  Kayleina McGonigal and Eryn Moore each filled eight of ten frames in the match.   MSM went on the win the second five game Baker match by a score of 916-705, building an 88-pin lead after two games and nearly doubling their lead after defeating the Griffins 234-169 in game three.  Gabriella Munsey led the Griffins, filling seven of ten frames.
 
The Griffins opened the best-of-seven Baker match with a 190-146 win in the opening game   The Mountaineers took the next two games 215-114 and 181-168, taking a 2-1 lead in the match.  Chestnut Hill tied the match at 2-2 with a 193-173 win in game four. The Griffins won game five 201-157 to take a 3-2 lead in the match.  Game six went to the Mount, 211-176, forcing a deciding seventh game.  Both teams battled in the final game with the Mount within striking range on the final frame.   Their effort however fell just short and the Griffins hung on for a 151-150 win to win the match 4-3.

Abbey Crumb filled 13 of 14 frames in the match and finished the day filling 20 of 26.  McGonigal filled 12 of 14 frames in the final match while Jessica Hollabaugh filled nine of ten.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team returns to action when they host the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament on October 14-15 at Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware.
