The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team completed their first day at the Golden Bear Invite hosted by Kutztown University on Saturday winning two matches while sitting in eighth place after the day's five traditional matches.
The Griffins defeated Bloomfield College 725-660 in their second match of the day and closed out the afternoon with an 865-634 win over Coppin State university. With the two wins the team sits at 7-11 overall.
Kayleina McGonigal led the Griffins in the win over Bloomfield, rolling a 194.Â
Gabriella Munsey was the next high scorer on the Chestnut Hill squad with a score of 146.
McGonigal again led the team in the win over Coppin State with a score of 195 while
Abbey Crumb turned in her high match of the day with a score of 184.
The Griffins opened the tournament dropping a close match to Felician University 875-864. McGonigal had her high match of the day with a score of 203 followed by
Jess Hollabaugh with a score of 194.Â
Chase Clifford also had her high match of the day with a score of 164 while Munsey rolled a 153.Â
Eryn Moore rounded out the CHC bowlers in the opening match with a score of 140.
Another close loss followed in the Griffins' third match as the fell to Fairleigh Dickinson university 842-833. Hollabaugh and McGonigal led the team with scores of 182 and 174 respectively.
Host Kutztown University handed the Griffins another close loss, 865-823 following the FDU match. Hollabaugh and Moore both bowled their high matches of the day with scores of 188 and 170 respectively. Clifford added a score of 163.
Tournament action continues on Sunday with four baker format matches followed by a best-of-seven baker match to determine final placing.
