The Chestnut Hill College women's bowling team turned in a solid performance in the Baker format portion of the Golden Bear Invite on Sunday, capturing four of five matches and finishing in ninth place for the invitational.
Three of the four wins came against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools as the Griffins defeated defending CACC champion Caldwell University twice and CACC newcomer Dominican University once.
Eryn Moore and
Abigail Crumb led the Griffins on the day, with both bowlers filling 78.8% of their frames bowled. Moore also led the team making 80-% of her makeable spares.
Opening the day against Caldwell, the Griffins earned an 842-757 win. Crumb filled nine of the ten frames bowled while
Kayleina McGonigal filled eight.
Chestnut Hill also finished their day with a match against the Cougars, this one was a best-of-seven baker format match to determine the team's final position. Caldwell jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 171-159 and 172-151 wins in the first two contests. The Griffins rebounded to take four straight games to win the match 4-2. Chestnut Hill had a 233-186 win in game three to get on the board and tied the match with a 188-158 win in game four.
The Griffins dominated the fifth game 211-133 and completed the come-from-behind win with a 133-124 win in game six.
Jess Hollabaugh filled ten of 12 frames while Moore and Crumb filled nine of 12 apiece.
In the Griffins 794-608 win over Dominican,
Gabriella Munsey, Crumb, Moore and McGonigal all filled seven of ten frames. The Chargers were playing in their first tournament as a varsity program.
CHC followed their win against Dominican with an 889-851 win over Molloy College. Moore filled all ten frames while Crumb filled nine of ten. The Griffins then concluded their day with the 4-2 win over Caldwell.
The only loss of the day by the Griffins came in their second match of the day as Morgan State University handed Chestnut Hill an 841-788 loss. McGonigal and Moore filled eight of ten frames apiece.
The women's bowling team returns to action on November 11
th for the CACC Fall Invitational in Rockaway, New Jersey.
