Three members of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team recorded double-doubles as they defeated Holy Family university 3-1 at the campus Center in Northeast Philadelphia Tuesday night.
With the win, their first ever at HFU's Campus Center, the Griffins improve to 5-8 overall and 4-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Tigers fall to 4-12 overall and 2-3 in league contests.
The Griffins won the opening set 25-18 before the Tigers came back to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 win in the second set. Chestnut Hill never trailed as they took the third set 25-21 and scored the first five points of the fourth set en route to a big 25-15 final set win to give the team the match.
Erika Dubosky,
Rachel Mace and
Mia Caporellie all recorded double-doubles on the night. Mace led the way with 19 kills and committed just one error for an attack percentage of .439 (19-1-41). Dubosky added 15 kills. Mace also led all players on the defensive side with 20 digs while Dubosky added 13. Chestnut Hill setter
Mia Caporellie recorded a season high 50 assists while notching 15 digs on defense.  As a team the Griffins tied a school record for kills in a four set-match with 61 and set a new record for assists in a four-set match with 60.
Cha'kya Johnson added 13 kills with a .426 attack percentage (13-2-26).Â
Torrin Kelley led the team with three service aces.Â
On the defensive side, the Griffins had two additional players record ten or more digs with Kelly adding 12 and
Natalie Albin recording 14 on the night. Caporellie,
Angela April and
Maya Hopson had three blocks apiece. Â Â Â
Shelby Kinzer led the Tigers with 15 kills while Maeve Boylan and Kinzer had 17 and 15 digs respectively.
The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team returns to action on Thursday, October 5, 2023 when they host Georgian Court University at Sorgenti arena. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
