Jefferson University snapped the Chestnut Hill college women's Tennis team two-game winning streak with a 4-3 win at the Abraham Salman courts on Jefferson's campus in Philadelphia Friday afternoon.
The Griffins fall to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matches. Jefferson takes over sole possession of first place in the conference with the win, improving to 5-1 in conference matches and 9-3 overall.
The Rams started the match by winning two of the three doubles contests to secure the first point. Chestnut Hill's lone doubles win came at the #2 doubles slot as
Alison Isaac and
Nele Haag defeated Rose Huang and Stanislova Norets 6-2.   The Rams won at #1 and #3 doubles and headed into singles with a 1-0 lead.
Jefferson took control of the match as the upper half of their singles flights earned victories at #1, #2 and #3 singles.   The Griffins earned their three points with wins at the #4, #5 and #6 singles positions.
Annika Wise recorded a three-set win at #4 singles, defeating Manni Zhang 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 while
Romi Meirovich recorded a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Rose Huang at #5 singles.Â
Elena Arenas Guisasola earned the Griffins' third point, defeating Zenia Barretto 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5).
The Chestnut Hill college women's Tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 when they host Goldey-Beacom college. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
