Stanchina Earns All-Region Honors as Cross Country Team Concludes Season at NCAA Regionals

Cole Stanchina ran one of the fastest races ever run by a Chestnut Hill College Cross Country runner at the NCAA division II East Region Championship, placing 25th overall as the Griffins concluded their cross country season.

Stanchina completed the 10,000-meter course at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire in 32:21.9, the second fastest 10K time in program history.  Only Giancarlo Martines ran a faster 10K, running a 31:45.40 on the same Hopkinton course in 2015.

The 25th place finish also earned Stanchina USTFCCCA Division II All-region honors, joining Martines (8th place, 2015) as the only two runners in program history to earn all-region status.

Senior Jason Fisher finished his final collegiate cross country race in 36:03.5 while freshman Ryan O'Hara, competing in his first NCAA regional race, finished in 39:00.8.

With the season now concluded the Griffin cross country runners will now turn their focus to the upcoming track and field season.
