Cole Stanchina ran one of the fastest races ever run by a Chestnut Hill College Cross Country runner at the NCAA division II East Region Championship, placing 25
th overall as the Griffins concluded their cross country season.
Stanchina completed the 10,000-meter course at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, New Hampshire in 32:21.9, the second fastest 10K time in program history. Only Giancarlo Martines ran a faster 10K, running a 31:45.40 on the same Hopkinton course in 2015.
The 25
th place finish also earned Stanchina USTFCCCA Division II All-region honors, joining Martines (8
th place, 2015) as the only two runners in program history to earn all-region status.
Senior
Jason Fisher finished his final collegiate cross country race in 36:03.5 while freshman
Ryan O'Hara, competing in his first NCAA regional race, finished in 39:00.8.
With the season now concluded the Griffin cross country runners will now turn their focus to the upcoming track and field season.
